Kinesiology (or Spider) Taping

Kinesiology taping is used to relax or rehabilitate overused, damaged or underdeveloped muscles. With its characteristic elasticity it can also be used to support or limit particular movements at joints. This is a method growing in popularity among professional athletes. You may have seen the often brightly coloured and sometimes strange shaped Keniosology Taping at events like the Olympics, or more recently on China's Li Na during the Australian Open tennis and during last year’s NRL season.

SpiderTech tape has the same weight, thickness and elasticity as skin allowing it to integrate with your body’s sensory system naturally with less irritation. This taping improves on more tradition rigid methods of taping in 3 distinct areas;

Structurally: It provides better support to joints or muscles during activity and prevents harmful movements without the rigid confining feel of traditional tape.

Neurological effects: Increased tactile stimulation can decrease pain by stimulating your own built in pain-killer system. With properties similar to skin it promotes normal muscle use and function.

Circulation: The ripple or wave patterns characteristic to Spider tape applications create pressure gradients that stimulate lymphatic drainage and improve local circulation. It is used effectively in the treatment of swelling, bruising and oedema.

SpiderTech Pre-cuts are specifically designed by experienced practitioners for individual joints or body parts. They are used in the treatment of a varied range of pathologies. Pre-cuts are 1 piece allowing for greater skin contact and neurosensory capabilities. With less start / end points than with multiple strips of tape the application is more effective over a number of days due to reduced peeling.

Kinesiology tape can be effectively used to assist in the treatment of:

  • Acute and chronic injuries
